PALFINGER: Even More Power and Outreach With The New PK 165.002 TEC 7
In the mountainous area of Haute-Savoie in France, Gil & Fils Levage has specialized on the most difficult work assignments – counting on PALFINGER quality for over two decades.
Founded in 2000 by Gilles Sonnerat, Gil & Fils Levage is based in the Haute-Savoie-region, France, operating throughout the whole country. With a focus on lifting, transport and handling operations, the company works mainly for customers in the construction industry. Its specialties include the transport and assembly of rapid set-up cranes, glazing and sandwich panels using vacuum lifting devices, SPAs and frames, and the lifting of LGVs and LCVs. For these particularly delicate operations, they rely on the performance of PALFINGER cranes. Three out of four of the company’s truck cranes are already equipped with PALFINGER – and the newest addition in the Gil & Fils Levage vehicle fleet now offers even more power: a SCANIA 8x4 double drive equipped with a PALFINGER PK 165.002 TEC 7.
Over 20 years of trust, outreach and performance
Gil & Fils Levage has been working with PALFINGER for more than two decades, starting the business with a MAN 4x4 equipped with a PALFINGER PK 21.502. 20 years later, the truck is still in operation and impresses due to its compact size at construction sites that are difficult to access. In 2016, they expanded the fleet with a PALFINGER PK 78002-SH. The large capacity and fly jib (additional articulated arm) improve operations with heavy loads and high outreaches. The new PK 165.002 TEC 7 accompanies the PK 78002-SH perfectly, with even more outreach and power: "With this new heavy-duty crane, we want to strengthen our offering to our customers who have an increasing need for outreach and performance. As job sites become more difficult to access and the weight of materials increases, the truck often needs to be positioned further away. This should also allow us to develop new applications," explains Loïc Sonnerat, who runs the business with his father Gilles.
The PK 165.002 TEC 7: extraordinary 42 meter outreach and 32 ton capacity
With its 9 hydraulic extensions, fly jib and the possibility of adding two additional manual extensions, the PALFINGER PK 165.002 TEC 7 crane reaches up to 42 meters. It offers exceptional capacities, up to 32 tons, 11.5 tons for the jib and 1550 kg at 34 meters height. "It allows us to work easily in situations where our other equipment would have reached its limits," concludes Loïc.
Like all cranes in the TEC range, it is equipped with the latest generation of PALFINGER assistance systems that simplify operation. They enable Loïc Sonnerat to carry out spectacular operations with maximum flexibility. For example, on a recent delivery to the Rumilly Cinema, he precisely assembled glass panels over an outreach of up to 32 meters through a corridor with a false ceiling that was below the level of the glass. "All the sensors in the TEC series offer safety and ease of use. The radio control gives me all the on-board information I need in terms of total reach, distance extended, angles of the first and second booms, and weight. Stabilizing the machine is also easier and the HPSC-Plus Load System adjusts the capacity to the truck load."
Optimized bodywork
To complement the crane's outstanding performance, the body was designed to best meet the individual challenges of the company. It is extraordinarily well weight optimized and equipped with front stabilizers for 360 degree power, while offering a maximum number of storage compartments. In addition to that, the whole truck combined with the high value PALFINGER P-profile loader crane has an impeccable look. "We had very specific requirements for the customization and body we wanted. We worked out our requirements and designs in detail with the technical support of the teams at PALFINGER in France, who implemented the bodywork to a high standard. As a result, our vehicle is perfectly adapted to our operating requirements: it is practical, versatile and every detail has been optimized,” says Sonnerat.
