Palfinger is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join the Palfinger HR team for our Tiffin, OH manufacturing facility. The HR Generalist will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating positive employee relations, recruitment and human resources policies and programs; and will assist in the facility’s safety programs and culture. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Your Responsibilities

  • Administers strategic and tactical approaches in employee development, positive employee relations, policy and procedure compliance and development, training, compensation, benefits and performance evaluation. Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company’s integrity standards.
  • Assists the organization in driving a world-class safety culture in the facility. Sits on the safety committee, ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal workplace safety laws and regulations, coordinates training. Recommends HR best practices to maximize performance, productivity, efficiency and morale across the organization.
  • Responsible for full life-cycle recruiting: recruiting, screening and recommending placement of staff by using creative sourcing methods (internal and external). Implement and improve HR recruiting reporting, systems and programs. Is the subject matter in expert in latest trends and sources in recruiting with a high level of familiarity with social media for recruiting, manages recruiting resources to maximize efficiency and reduce waste. 
  • Maintains a strong relationship with all levels of management, employees, union and other business units by effectively assisting and coaching managers, supervisors and front-line staff on employment related topics and issues.
  • Provides internal human resources expertise and training to managers and supervisors in the areas of performance management, organizational development, training and development of leaders and their teams to enhance cross-functional effectiveness and support management initiatives. Stays current on new trends in the HR field to maximize attainment of established plan objectives.
  • Coordinates hiring, terminations, employee transfers, etc., in person and into the current payroll and HRIS software. Maintains the security and integrity of confidential employee data and files. Conducts exit interviews and analyzes turnover data to make recommendations to the management team to reduce unplanned and regrettable turnover.
  • Maintains communication devices and bulletin boards, facilitates employee functions, insures employee kiosks are available and functioning properly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Business related subjects and/or HR required, Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or similar field preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, other professional HR related training and certifications helpful. 3-5 years professional HR experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a high degree of responsibility in safety, recruitment, positive employee relations and labor relations.
  • Experience in driving safety culture and compliance, preferably in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Experience in managing workers compensation claims a plus. Strong knowledge of local, state and federal employer compliance requirements.
  • Experience providing internal consulting and training to supervisors and managers on employee issues related to performance and development, including succession planning helpful.  
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and is comfortable in planning, facilitating and conducting meetings. 
  • Ability to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively and ability to read and interpret written information. 
  • Experience and proficiency in payroll and HRIS systems required, experience in ADP and SAP Success Factors highly preferred. High level of competence with Microsoft Office products; Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. Possesses ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and has the ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance. Actively promotes confidentiality of all matters within the department, personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a very fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
